IMP II (right) is a 28-foot single-step hydroplane that won the Gold Cup in 1929; the boat was restored recently, and the top photo shows the boat in action at the Antique Boat Museum's Raceboat Regatta in August 2004.

APHRODITE (left), the classic 74-foot commuter yacht built in 1937 for John Hay Whitney, has just completed a total rebuild at the Brooklin Boat Yard in Brooklin, ME. The photo shows the boat at full speed (38 knots) in Eggemoggin Reach just after launch on October 3, 2005. I am now writing a book about the history and rebuild of APHRODITE and would welcome any information about the boat's rich history.

Two boats that made it to today...
